"Tampa Bay Seawater Desalination Plant" - Tampa Bay, FL

The Tampa Bay Water Desalination Facility was originally commissioned in 2003.
Pretreatment inadequacies required significant remediation of the facility which was
performed by a new contract operator, American Water Acciona Agua.  The plant returned
to full service in November 2007.  A summary of its permitting, construction and operating
challenges will be provided.

This AMTA Technology Transfer Workshop will focus
on Membrane Treatment in the Heart of the Great
Smoky Mountains. Attendees will learn about basic
overview of various membrane technologies including
MF, UF, NF and RO, an overview of the Isom Lail Memorial
Water Treatment Plant and the City of Alcoa's Submerged UF
Water Treatment Plant, including facilities tours of both these WTPs.
The workshop will also highlight several membrane case histories:
McCroskey Island Water Treatment Plant - 12 MGD MF Plant,
Duck River Utility Commission - 10 MGD UF Water Treatment Plant
- After 5 years of Operations, Retrofit of the 1960's Murfreesboro
plant to Membranes, Beaver Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant
- 6 MGD UF MBR, as well as include information regarding
Advancement of Energy Recovery Devices in Membrane
Separation Applications and a discussion regarding Permitting
and Discharge Issues.
